Dear Commissioners,
I urge you to deny the request of Jim Nolen and Atria on rezoning part of the Tecce property. Knowing the time, effort and resources that were expended on the 2014 hearing, it is frankly insulting, to both the community and the Board of Commissioners, that the applicant would submit a new plan that is almost identical to the prior one.
This proposal, like the prior one, blatantly favors the interest of the developer over the interests of the community. It would increase the environmental and aesthetic impact of the development without sufficient tradeoffs by the developer.
What's more, passing such a proposal during a lame duck period would be a slap in the face to the Panhandle part of the Township. The people of the Springfield Panhandle just voted overwhelmingly in favor of the candidate who most favored open space preservation and strict scrutiny of developer proposals. To deny the voice of the local community would be an arrogant abandonment of the democratic process.
